Welcome Sisters!

Thank you for stopping by the Christian Women's Book Club. We are women interested in reading...leading to fellowship, great discussions, and ultimately glorifying God!

Currently, we are reading the Lineage of Grace series by Francine Rivers. There are five novellas in this series and they focus on five key women in the lineage of Christ. We will be discussing Unspoken (about Bathsheba) on Monday, September 13th at 7:30 pm. If you aren't able to make it to our discussion group, please feel free to read the series on your own and leave your comments on the blog!

  1. WOW! I just finished reading the first novella and I am amazed at the depth of Tamar's convictions and her faith in the God of her father-in-law...the One and Only!

  3. What an encouraging meeting! Thank you to all who attended. Some of the key words we discussed were obedience, patience, righteousness, faith, love, and hunger (for God). We talked about how, even here in Genesis, Tamar exhibited the Fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22).

For those sisters who were unable to attend the meeting, I will post a couple of discussion topics. EVERYONE, please feel free to leave your feedback (not necessarily limited to the topics I listed)!

    1. Once Tamar is pregnant, she sends a message to Judah, her father-in-law: "The man who owns this identification seal and walking stick is the father of my child. Do you recognize them?" Why do you think Tamar asked Judah a question rather than making a proclamation? What does this say about her character?

    2. Proverbs 16:2 "People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives." What does this say about people's opinion of themselves?

    3. How do you want to be remembered.

  4. We had a wonderful time discussing Ruth last night and her unfailing love and obedience. Wow, I never posted questions about Rahab. Sorry! Here are a few of the questions that we discussed last night regarding Ruth:

    1. Difficult situations in life reveal our real character. What kind of report could be given about you?

    2. Read James 2:14-18. What do your actions reveal about your faith?

    3. If you had to cast a Hollywood movie of "Unshaken", who would star as Ruth, Naomi, Orpah, Boaz, Mahlon, Kilion, etc.? (Here's what we came up with last night: Ruth: Sandra Bullock, Naomi: Meryl Streep, Boaz: Anthony Hopkins, Mahlon: Charlie Sheen, Orpah: Lindsay Lohan)
